Project description

Reforest'Action and Sylva Nova offer you to improve and extend the forest of the region!

Project overview

  • Number of trees to be planted: 4,000
  • Surface of the plantation: 2.2 hectares
  • Species planted: European larch, European oak, sycamore maple, chestnut, Nordmann pine
  • Type of project: Reforestation and afforestation
  • Planting season: Spring 2020

Context and benefits

This project has its roots in the cross-border province of North Brabant in the Netherlands. The region has a relatively low afforestation rate which confirms the general trend in the Netherlands where land is predominantly used for agriculture.

Nevertheless, no less than 5 deciduous and coniferous species will complement this diversification and fallow afforestation project. Thanks to its diversity, this forest in the making will be even more resistant to future climatic hazards. Moreover, the afforestation will enrich these former agricultural soils while welcoming the biodiversity specific to each of the planted forest species.
