Context

In the Jura department (France), these forest plots have been heavily damaged by bark beetle attacks. These xylophagous insects dig galleries under the bark of trees, which blocks the circulation of sap, causing the death of the affected specimens. These invasions slowed down the natural regeneration process of the forest, eventually leading to its decline.

The 14,750 trees planted will help diversify the stand and fortify the forest against future external hazards. This approach will also promote the enrichment of biodiversity within the forest. In addition, the trees will store carbon, thus contributing to the fight against global warming.
