Context
Montserrat Mountain is a famous place for Catalans. In its cliffs stands the ancient abbey of Montserrat, where is present the Virgin of Montserrat, patron saint of Catalonia.
The Spanish Ministry of the Environment classifies the site as being at high risk of desertification. This shows the importance of recreating a dynamic ecosystem, welcoming biodiversity. The previous forest, burned in 2015 was a monospecific forest of very dense Aleppo pine, tanks to this reforestation it will be possible to obtain a forest of mixed species. It will therefore be a major focus of biodiversity but also an adaptation response to climate change.
