In order to meet our food needs and support our lifestyles, France must import agricultural and forestry raw materials which were grown outside our borders. Seven of these imported materials (soy, palm oil, cocoa, beef, paper pulp, wood and rubber) alone account for nearly 15 million hectares of cultivated land, and more than one-third of them are located in countries with a high risk of deforestation.
