A tree with multiple powers

22/11/2010 - stephane stephane

baobab - Powers - trees

This immense tree that often lives for a hundred years, produces flowers that last a single day.  The flowers contain a nectar especially liked by bats who pollinate the tree as they forage for nectar. The Baobab's fruit are often called 'monkey bread' because monkeys like it better than humans do.  The fruit is said to have aphrodisiac properties, but is often neglected in favor of the seeds and the leaves which are also edible. Prevalent in Eastern Senegal, where you have planted your trees, the Baobab is part of Teyel's natural landscape.
