Project description

Support the reforestation of this declining plot with Reforest'Action and Alliance Forêt Bois!

The project at a glance

Number of trees to be planted: 5,000 plants
Planting area: 4.15 hectares
Species planted: Douglas fir, maritime pine
Type of project: reforestation of a declining plot
Planting date: spring 2020

Background information

This 4 hectare plot is located at an altitude of 600 metres. It was occupied by a monospecific stand of Douglas fir. However, although the site station shows good characteristics for the growth of this species, the lack of rainfall in recent years has caused significant decline. Thus, in the best preserved areas, Douglas fir will be replanted. In the most affected areas, it will be replaced by maritime pines.

In this project, particular attention is paid to the choice of species according to very local characteristics. The objective is to create a stand that is both dynamic and resistant to climatic hazards, pathogens and possible insect attacks. Thus, a permanent habitat will be created for biodiversity. The production of timber, useful in particular in construction, will also make it possible to store carbon in a sustainable way.
