Lollapalooza is gathering each year tens of thousands people and as any major event, its environmental impact is a crucial concern. Energy, water, waste, CO2 emissions : all the issues related to sustainability are directly linked to the festival and its audience.

For this reason, the way the festival is organized is reconsidered including each year new actions aiming at lowering the festival environmental impact such as : 100% reusable and consigned cups for the drinks, biodegradable dishes in all the food stands and compost made out of the waste of the festival, waste sorting on site, access to Free tap water, no waste of furniture / decoration, no plastic Straws on the festival.

Description

Perry Farrell, front man of the group Jane’s Addiction, created Lollapalooza as an itinerant music festival with an underground edge – the Alternative Nation – which has travelled across America and Canada every summer from 1991 to 1997.

Lollapalooza has had a considerable impact on the rise of alternative music in the first half of the 1990’s, foregrounding the biggest grunge groups of the era (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, etc.) From 1991 to 1995, Lollapalooza was often at the cutting edge of new «alternative» music trends, as it was called back then ,as well as funk, indie rock and hip-hop. In the 2000’s, the festival opened up to new music genres whilst confidently retaining its alternative signature. Thriving from the success of these Chicago editions, the festival launched its international expansion in 2010 with Lollapalooza Chile.

Lollapalooza Paris is the French capital 's newest major music festival and a European satellite by the iconic festival brand. After a spectacular Parisian debut in 2017, the fourth edition will once again see a lineup of music megastars perform across 2 days at the city's famous Hippodrome ParisLongchamp.
