Context

Veni Verdi association wishes to afforest a plot of land belonging to the Pierre Mendès France College in the 20th arrondissement of Paris. This forest is quiet special, it's urban and edible.

Located on a degraded slope of the playground, the first challenge of this operation is to recreate a green space abounding in ecological and social interest. The project is at the heart of a priority education area and its installation, maintenance and harvests will be collaborative and educational moments. 

Besides, the stakes are ecological, the project will serve as an experiment on several things. Soil regeneration, the soil in place is very compacted, a common phenomenon in cities. A light tillage and a dense plantation will allow root development, which will then aerate the soil and favour the return of biological activity. The experience of a high density of planting will try to highlight the competitiveness and complementarity of the species.

Finally, the species present are of great diversity which favours a diversity of fauna. The plant is almost entirely composed of edible plants, fruit trees or melliferous trees wich allows feeding a greater number of insects, birds and small mammals.

The urban forest has many other advantages, for example, it helps to avoid runoff which favours flooding and plays an important role in local temperatures by creating a real "cool island".
