Résumé du projet
In the Pays la Loire region of France, this forest stand in the Sarthe region has been ravaged by bark beetles. This single-species stand had until then consisted exclusively of a single tree variety, spruce. As this stand was considered too fragile, the cut was brought forward. The project is based on the diversification of species in order to reconstitute a forest cover that is more resistant to disease and biological attack. This type of multifunctional project offers many advantages. The forest will be managed sustainably and, in addition to hosting a rich biodiversity, will be able to provide wood and all the ecosystem services specific to forests. The trees planted will store carbon, helping to combat climate change.
