In Saint-Avaugourd-des-Landes, in the Vendée department, a 31-hectare agricultural wasteland is the subject of a Low-Carbon label afforestation project. Created by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion in collaboration with numerous partners, the Low-Carbon Label, which also applies to forestry projects, contributes to reducing France's national carbon footprint. In order to create a sustainable and resilient stand, a variety of tree species has been selected for planting. The future forest will form an ecological corridor, a privileged passageway for wildlife. This project will enable the storage of over 4,535 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over the next thirty years, thus contributing to the mitigation of climate change.
