Context

The Donazau Forest, located in the commune of Rocles in Lozère, was created in the 1980s on a heterogeneous and fragmented set of agricultural land, pastures, groves of Scots pines and beech trees. Initially this property was very fragmented, the action of regrouping made it possible to constitute a forest unit in becoming of 139,50 ha. A large part of this massif is a poor settlement, because of an acid and very rocky ground. However, its ecological potential is strong, the habitats provided by this rocky terrain as well as the wetlands show it. The planting of various softwood species will revitalize the afforestation, the maintenance of the ground will support the natural regeneration of hardwoods in place, especially beech.
