Context
This plot is connected to the Orléans forest, partly state-owned forest of 50,000 ha, known for its wetlands rich of an important biodiversity. The plantation is located in the forest of Centimaisons which appears weakened and declining. The pressure of large mammals is one of the elements explaining the poor development of this forest. Indeed, the young plants which leave the ground are very often eaten by the cervids which adore it in spring. Moreover, the humid soils of Sologne make natural regeneration even more difficult.
The plantation that will be undertaken is therefore aimed to restor forest's dynamism. The few oaks, birches and Scots pines already present in a poor state will have more chance to develop once the protections will be installed. The red oaks and laricio pines, perfectly adapted to soil and regional climate, will grow rapidly and give a density to these scattered moors. The recovery of wooded state will allow a better fauna - flora balance and thus sustainably improve the ecosystem.
