Project description

Located in the commune of Villiers Saint Georges, this parcel is a very poor quality coppice with no future. We propose you to restore a dynamic forest.

The project at a glance

  • Number of trees to plant: 1100
  • Planting Area: 2.6 hectares
  • Species planted: oak, cherry, alisier
  • Type of project: planting on dying stands
  • Planting date: Winter 2018

Context

Coppice is a stand of trees resulting from asexual reproduction or vegetative reproduction of a strain, where several latent buds may have developed. It is thus a formation of several new stems which are strictly similar to the starting tree. Unfortunately, this type of stand is poor in diversity and beautiful wood production. The one on this plot is made up of chestnut trees in poor condition.

The proposed plantation is composed of various species. The oak with strong ecological potential will be accompanied by forest fruit trees, wild cherry (cherry) and alisier. This diversity will make it possible to create a true ecosystem welcoming a rich biodiversity.
