Project description

The Romagne project aims to plant several species on an old poor and decaying coppice !

The project at a glance

  • Number of trees to be planted: 10,640
  • Plantation area: 7.20 hectares
  • Species planted: sessile oak, birch, cedar, cherry, wild pear
  • Project type: restoration of a degraded stand
  • Planting season: March 2023

The origine of the project

Ravaged by the storm of 1999, destructive for the French forests, this forest massif was then replanted for the exploitation of wood. Today, the stand is dying and needs to be restored.

10,640 trees are now being planted to reconstitute this forest ecosystem. The objective is also to diversify the stand with different species, chosen for their adaptability to the soil of the site. This approach will make the forest more resistant to external hazards, while promoting the development of a rich and varied biodiversity. In addition, the reconstitution of this ecosystem will allow to store carbon, thus participating in the fight against climate change.
