Context
Within the Loire department, this 1.10 hectare forest plot has been severely weakened over the recent years. Indeed, snowfalls broke 70% of the birch stems during a storm in 2018. Because of the lack of tree diversity within the plot, the stand was withering away.
The project thus plans to diverisfy the species that compose the massif. The recent and spontaneous apparition of hardwoods is enriched by the introduction of softwoods. The forest will thus be more resistant to climatic hazards and biological attacks. Fortified, the trees will help fight climate change by storing carbon. The forest will also contribute to the production of sustainable timber.
