The second edition of the Global Forest Summit

The second edition of the Global Forest Summit took place in Brussels on 24 march. The Global Forest Summit aims to follow the trends on forests to ensure a science-driven policy debate around four core themes: Combating Deforestation; Ensuring Forest Landscape Restoration; Fostering Sustainable Management of Forests; Financing all above-mentioned ambitions. It also aims to encourage actions to preserve forests.

European Commission: towards the implementation of a certification for the carbon absorbed by forests

On December 15, the European Commission published a Communication on sustainable carbon cycles, which aims to encourage carbon removals in the EU, through carbon farming, which promotes practices such as afforestation or agroforestry, or industrial solutions. It also prepares the upcoming publication of a carbon sequestration certification framework, announced for 2022.
