Project description

Participate in the renewal of this massif degraded by insects!

The project at a glance

  • Number of trees to be planted: 2630
  • Planting area: 2.10 hectares
  • Species planted: oak and sycamore maple
  • Type of project: reforestation following insect attack

Context

This private plot is located in one of the rich forests of the Doubs. In 2018, the spruce trees that populated it were attacked and decimated by bark beetles. Two years later, the owner wishes to restore the forest cover by planting oak and sycamore maple trees. This stand, which is better adapted to the region, will be managed as an irregular forest to increase its naturalness and ecological potential.

This tree planting project will create a true forest ecosystem. The establishment of locally present species will perpetuate the stand, which will thus be more conducive to hosting a diverse range of biodiversity. The management method will further strengthen this forest area, while allowing the production of quality wood, which will sustainably store atmospheric carbon.
