Résumé du projet
In the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, in the Deux-Sèvres department, this project follows on from a reforestation project supported by Reforest'Action in the spring of 2021. The chestnut coppice covering these plots showed significant signs of decline linked to the health problems encountered by this species. The presence of phytophthora, a pathogenic fungus, was detected and its spread noted. Add to this the other pathogens detected and climate change, and a species substitution was the only alternative for this forest. Ultimately, this forest will be able to produce sustainable, high-quality wood materials. The diversity of species planted will enable it to fulfill its ecological role to the full, helping to fight global warming thanks to the carbon stored.
