Résumé du projet
Lorraine's forests, 37% of which are wooded, are strongly influenced by history. Successive economic and social demands have shaped their surface area and species composition. The wars of the previous century had a strong impact on their evolution. In addition, the storms of 1999 devastated the stands and changed the way we think about the future of the forest and silviculture. Formerly a plantation of cherry trees (fruit trees), these plots failed to thrive following the damage inflicted by the storms of 1999. Since then, they have been neglected and are dying out daily. A new plantation, better adapted to the site, is therefore necessary to revitalize the plots and restore an ecosystem degraded by climatic hazards. Today, 5,100 trees have been planted, made up of sessile oak and Scots pine. Over time, these trees will ensure forest continuity in the area and contribute to the creation of a resilient forest heritage.
