In the Vienne department (86), this former bocage land, where most of the hedges had been removed, is now mainly used for agricultural purposes. The priority today is to restore biodiversity and preserve the soil on this land. Hedgerows made up of various deciduous species (shrubs, trees and bushes) are planted to regenerate the land. The trees introduced clean the soil, prevent erosion and filter water. From an ecological point of view, the hedges encourage the presence of biodiversity, essential to the proper functioning of the various ecosystems. In the near future, these hedges will also enable wildlife to move into the plots. In terms of agricultural production, the hedges will act as windbreaks, protecting crops against natural hazards. These environmental and ecological functions will benefit the land and the surrounding population over the long term.Principales essences :
