Located in the Vosges department, this afforestation project aims to revitalize a forest that was badly damaged by the 1999 storm and has never recovered. Nearly 25 hectares were affected. Since then, little or no natural regeneration has succeeded in recolonizing the area left bare. Moreover, the previous owner clear-cut more than 15 hectares without any reforestation. The new owner and his manager now intend to restore the forest to its former glory, even if it will take several decades for the ecosystem to regain its equilibrium. This multi-functional project will accommodate the biodiversity specific to each of the 7 species planted, restoring and bringing back to the landscape a forest stratum and atmosphere. Finally, in the long term, some of the trees will produce quality timber, while others will be used to heat our homes with local wood.
