Agroforestry
In rural areas of Morocco, Reforest'Action is developing agroforestry projects in villages throughout the country, thanks to its local partner Ibn Al Baytar.

In rural areas of Morocco, the challenges of economic development go hand in hand with the implementation of collective, sustainable agricultural solutions. Permaculture and agroforestry are virtuous practices that provide a real boost to self-sufficiency, food security and the incomes of local communities. They create a nourishing forest and combat desertification.
In the field, Reforest'Action and its partner association Ibn Al Baytar are developing permaculture and agroforestry fruit tree planting, with a view to boosting the incomes of local communities. The aim is to plant trees in agroforestry in order to encourage the development of economic sectors, through local cooperatives, thanks to the cultivation of organic fruit. The species selected are fruit species adapted to the local climate: the fruit they produce (lemons, olives, dates, etc.) will be intended for local consumption and sale on local markets, while the trees will provide protective cover for the underlying food crops. In parallel with the development of agroforestry, the Ibn Al Baytar association is working to raise awareness among local populations. Members of the association teach farmers about the importance of preserving trees in the landscape, and the benefits of planting them on their agricultural plots.
