This stand in the Nièvre department is very impoverished, particularly as regards oaks. Unfortunately, even the few oaks present on these forest plots are withering away. As a result, the forest has reached a silvicultural impasse, threatening its future, hence the importance of this reforestation project. The planting of the 19,000 trees was also an opportunity to diversify the stand and thus create a healthier forest. The different species chosen are suited to the soil and site conditions, making the stand more resilient in the face of climate change. This approach also has the advantage of encouraging the development of a rich biodiversity within a forest ecosystem. Besides, the trees planted will store carbon, thereby helping to combat climate change.
