Located in the Condroz region of Liège in Wallonia (Belgium), the project is rooted in a rural area made up of agricultural landscapes, pastures and forests. For ten years, this region, where ash was the dominant tree species, was affected by chalarosis and bark beetle attacks. Now 70% devastated, the project aims to restore the forest ecosystem and stabilize the stand. Thanks to this approach, the plots are reforested or reinforced to support natural regeneration. A total of 5,000 trees have now been introduced, enabling the forest cover to be restored to its full ecosystem benefits. Ultimately, this forest in the making will benefit the ecological network and the expansion of the forest area, while helping to combat climate change.
