Located in Belgium, this plot, formerly populated with coniferous trees, was recently clear-cut due to an invasion of bark beetles. These xylophagous insects burrow under the bark, preventing the sap from circulating and causing the affected trees to wither. To reconstitute this forest ecosystem, 3600 trees of various species are planted within the plot. Despite the predominance of coniferous trees in the region, deciduous species have been selected to enrich this future stand. The result will be a more resilient, sustainable mixed forest. Ultimately, the trees planted will enable the stand to generate numerous ecosystem benefits: timber production, biodiversity preservation and carbon storage.Principales essences :
