Au cœur du Royaume-Uni dans la région des Midlands de l’Est, une première démarche de restauration a été mise en place sur ce délaissé agricole. Parmi les 5766 arbres introduits, plus de 80% ont été dévastés par une forte vague de sécheresse. Cette seconde démarche de reboisement prend en compte la qualité de l’eau et la protection des sols dans le choix de ses essences. Grâce à l’introduction d’un cortège de 7 espèces feuillues diversifiées, les risques de parasites et de maladies sont réduits. En outre, le boisement permettra d'accroître la stabilité du sol et d'améliorer la qualité de l'eau. Cette forêt en devenir complétera les caractéristiques du paysage existant et fournira un habitat pour la faune et la flore locale. Enfin, les arbres capteront du carbone, contribuant ainsi à la lutte contre le réchauffement climatique.

In the heart of the UK's East Midlands region, a first restoration project has been set up on this agricultural wasteland. Of the 5766 trees introduced, over 80% had been devastated by a severe drought. This second reforestation project takes into account water quality and soil protection in the choice of tree species. Thanks to the introduction of a diverse range of 7 deciduous species, the risks of parasites and disease are reduced. In addition, the afforestation will increase soil stability and improve water quality. This future forest will complement the existing landscape and provide a habitat for local flora and fauna. Finally, the trees will capture carbon, helping to combat global warming.
