In the Pays de la Loire region, in Mayenne, the soil of this abandoned farmland has been severely depleted by years of tilling. The aim of this project is to afforest this parcel of land, which is currently unused, and put it to good use in a different way. A total of 1,695 trees from a mixture of species will be planted in this sparsely wooded area, to create a diversified stand that is resistant to external hazards. Located close to hedgerows and a pond, the afforestation will create living spaces for local fauna, as well as welcoming local flora and mushrooms. In addition, the restoration of this forest will contribute to carbon storage, thereby helping to combat climate change. Once mature, the trees will also contribute to sustainable timber production.
