Résumé du projet
This project is located in the town of Weiswampach, a rural area made up of a network of meadows and small to medium-sized forests. The forest has suffered from bark beetle attack and needs to be restored. These xylophagous insects of the beetle family dig galleries under the bark of trees, preventing sap from circulating, which causes the death of affected trees. To prevent the invasion from spreading, the affected area had to be sanitation-cut. Thanks to the planting of 2,400 trees of varied species, the forest will be more resilient to potential biotic and abiotic hazards, and will encourage the development of a rich and varied biodiversity. The trees planted will store carbon over the long term, helping to combat climate change.

Sur le terrain
Contexte local

Located in a rural area with a network of meadows and small to medium-sized forests, this coniferous stand, mainly composed of spruce trees, fell victim to an attack by bark beetles. These xylophagous insects attacked the trees, weakening them and causing windfall. A diversification of stands will be carried out, improving the forest's resilience and enabling it to provide all its eco-systemic benefits.
