In the heart of Dordogne, silvicultural work is needed to ensure the long-term survival of the stands on these two plots. To begin with, a selection cut will be carried out to remove 20% of the standing volume, a process that will enable trees of different ages to be preserved within the stands, thus ensuring their balance. One of the two plots will also be enriched with a variety of tree species, such as oak and walnut, adapted to current climatic trends. This project will fortify the stands while accelerating natural forest dynamics. The trees planted will maintain the soil, preventing erosion. Maintained and revitalized, the forest will be home to a rich biodiversity, essential to the health of the various ecosystems. Over the long term, the forests will capture carbon, helping to combat global warming. Last but not least, the assisted trees will ensure the continuity of the forest cover.
