Résumé du projet
Located on the Chantilly estate, which welcomes almost 400,000 visitors every year, the forest covers more than 6,000 hectares. Unfortunately, over the past 30 years, the forest has been declining. The cause is successive waves of drought. The majority of oak trees have fallen victim to rising temperatures. What's more, in recent years, cockchafer larvae have appeared, causing considerable damage. As for the young seedlings, they are struggling to regenerate under the pressure of game, which is jeopardizing the future of the forest. In order to restore the forest, a wide range of tree species adapted to the region's climatic conditions are being planted to give new life to a sustainable, resilient forest. At the same time, silvicultural work is being carried out on young trees to support the regeneration of the stand. Eventually, the Chantilly forest will regain all its vigor and be able to continue fulfilling its environmental, landscape, social and economic functions.Principales essences :
Castanea sativa, Quercus petraea, Fagus sylvatica, Tilia cordata, Prunus avium, Pinus pinaster, Sorbus torminalis, Pinus sylvestris, Betula sp., Carpinus betulus
