Résumé du projet
The planting project aims to replace the destroyed spruces with a variety of species better adapted to local conditions and resistant to pests and diseases. This diversification will strengthen forest resilience in the face of emerging threats and restore ecological balance. In Belgium, forests play a crucial role in the country's ecological, economic and social balance. In recent years, however, they have come under increasing threat from the bark beetle, an insect pest of spruce trees, one of the dominant species in many Belgian forest plantations. In response to this crisis, a plantation project was set up to ensure the sustainability of the country's forest heritage.Principales essences :
Fagus sylvatica var. purpurea, Fagus sylvatica, Larix eurolepis, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Tsuga heterophylla (Raf.) Sarg., Picea abies, Abies grandis
Nombre total d'essences :
7

Contexte local
The bark beetle attack caused considerable devastation in spruce plantations in Belgium, resulting in the death of thousands of trees and the destabilization of many forest ecosystems. This situation highlighted the vulnerability of monoculture and the need for a more diversified approach to forest management.
