Résumé du projet
This project aims to create about forty hectares of forest on former agricultural plots and contribute to the reforestation of the Mayenne. Located in the commune of Torcé-Viviers-en-Charnie, the plots are former meadows that are not used today. They will be planted on two phases, the first of which covers approximately 17 hectares. The use of a wide variety of species will allow the stand to accommodate local biodiversity and the owner to produce wood (in several decades). The project also includes the installation of raptor perches to allow these predators to control invasive rodent species that attack the roots of young trees. Buzzards, kites and even hen harriers will be able to find shelter in and around the plots.

Contexte local

With an afforestation rate of 6.3% compared to an average of 31% in metropolitan France, the department of Mayenne has very little woodland. The planting of 40 hectares of forest required by the owner on former unused agricultural meadows should contribute to the reforestation of this department.
