Résumé du projet
The aim of the project is to replant these areas using natural regeneration, particularly of arbutus and cork oak, in order to revive traditional cork and arbutus production. The approach is based on the diversification of tree species, contributing to greater forest resilience in the face of climatic hazards and invasive species. Restored stands will be able to deliver all their environmental, economic and landscape benefits. In this case, the trees will reduce soil erosion, promote the development of biodiversity and enhance the landscape.Principales essences :
Quercus suber, Arbutus unedo

Sur le terrain
Contexte local
In the Algarve region of southern Portugal, this ecosystem restoration project is set in landscapes severely affected by wildfire. The project will enhance the economic value of the local forest through management adapted to forest renewal, and will help combat climate change through carbon storage.
Impact
