Résumé du projet
Located in the heart of the Dordogne, the Saint-Geyrac forest was severely affected by the storm of 1999, which damaged over 150 hectares of forest. On these shallow, filtering, south-facing soils, pines are almost the only species adapted to these difficult conditions. Despite this, the owner is planting a diversity of species that will make the plantation resilient and ecologically viable. Half-hectare strips will be planted with oak, naturally-occurring chestnut trees will be preserved on the edges of old windrows, and fruit trees will be planted along the paths. This diversity of deciduous trees will provide a break from the pine trees of this project and those in the surrounding area, maintaining ecological corridors for numerous species and serving as protection against wind and fire.
