Located in the Touraine region, south of the city of Tours, the commune of Chanceaux-près-Loches is criss-crossed by a forest that extends over four other villages. The area in which the project is located has been degraded by repeated droughts. The Scots pines, which are drying out (as in other parts of Touraine), need to be replaced by more resistant species. The landowner wishes to plant a combination of maritime pine, hornbeam and birch on all the plots in order to diversify his forest. Natural regeneration will also be promoted. This reforestation project will make it possible to re-establish a healthy, diversified forest plot capable of supporting local flora and fauna. By planting a diverse mix of tree species, the owner also hopes to create a rich ecosystem for future generations.
