Résumé du projet
This ageing oak forest is struggling to renew itself. In fact, natural regeneration has failed to take place, as the undergrowth is very dynamic and leaves no chance for young oak seedlings. In addition, the teeth of game and Maremmana cows present in the area further endanger the young seedlings. The aim here is therefore to clear the competing vegetation and enrich the gaps with young oak seedlings. The seedlings will be regularly cleared of competing vegetation and protected from the teeth of local mammals.Principales essences :
Quercus ilex, Quercus frainetto, Sorbus domestica, Quercus cerris, Sorbus torminalis, Fraxinus ornus, Fraxinus angustifolia, Quercus pubescens, Quercus suber

Contexte local
Italy's Grosseto region, located in Tuscany, offers a diverse forestry backdrop. The Maremma, a coastal region, is home to a variety of pine forests, including umbrella and maritime pines. The region is characterized by a rich biodiversity, with natural parks and protected areas, such as the Maremma Natural Park. The region is home to many animal species, including wild boar, deer and migratory birds. Sustainable forest management is a priority to preserve these ecosystems while allowing responsible use of forest resources.
Actions sur le terrain
- Identification and removal of dying oak trees - Clearance of planting areas - Planting of local trees for enrichment - Protection with fencing - Plantation maintenance - Monitoring
