Résumé du projet
The project takes root in Norg, in the Netherlands, on a plot of land historically planted with spruce trees, which have suffered an attack by bark beetles (xylophagous insects) leading to their death. In the past, the bark beetle mainly affected weak trees, but due to climate change and successive years of favourable weather for its proliferation, the spread of outbreaks has affected a large part of Europe's coniferous forests. The aim of this project is to restore this area of forest by planting three hardwood species and one softwood species, which will bring diversity and resilience to the area, enabling it to cope with the effects of climate change. Ultimately, the plot will offer a wide range of ecosystem services in terms of biodiversity, wood, air and water purification and carbon storage.
