Pacov - Czech Republic
Forest restoration and creation
The aim of this project is to reforest the areas affected by the bark beetle.

The site is located in the central part of the Czech Republic, in the highlands, which were one of the areas hardest hit by the bark beetle disaster.
The area is close to the water resource protection zone, in the locality of the Želivka drinking water reservoir.
- The bark-ridden spruce trees were removed.
- The soil has been prepared for the new planting.
- The trees will be planted in rows, with a mixture of different species.
- The plot will be enmeshed to protect it from the teeth of local game.
- During the vegetation period following planting, the plot will be monitored and maintained, in particular by clearing young trees of competing vegetation that could hinder their growth or survival.
- If mortality exceeds 20%, the trees will be replanted to ensure the plantation's long-term survival.
- Monitoring will be carried out to measure the impact of the project.
