This project is located in the Corrèze department in New Aquitaine, on the southern foothills of the Millevaches plateau. It is an aggregation of several plots of land, within a few kilometres of each other. They had been clear-cut by the previous owners, who then failed to reforest. The new owner recently acquired these plots with a view to reforesting and restoring the forests. The Douglas fir's good adaptation to this site will enable it to produce quality wood that stores carbon over the long term. Deciduous trees will be planted where they are best adapted, as well as randomly in the Douglas-fir areas to encourage biodiversity. This grouping of small plots will enable long-term sustainable management, despite the size of the plots.

Initially, the plot was prepared by localised work, including :
- Manual clearing of undergrowth
- Potting : localised cultivation of the soil to a depth and width of around 50cm to enable a plant to establish itself under ideal conditions. This can be done mechanically (usually with a shovel, caterpillar or spider) or manually (with a pickaxe or spade).
The slash is left on the ground. The natural regeneration of conifers, oaks and birches was also preserved in order to maintain a diversified vegetation and to avoid too much damage from game on the young trees coming out of the nursery. These were then planted as a priority where regeneration had failed.
