Résumé du projet
This assisted natural regeneration project, located in the Aube region, follows the storm of 1999, which devastated a considerable area of hardwood stands. These plots were replanted by planting plots of 25 to 30 oak or beech trees, leaving the natural growth to develop between the plots. Today, after the first clearings and the opening of partitions, it is necessary to clear the best oak and beech trees. By mechanising this operation, it is possible to avoid destroying the under-storey oaks. This technique allows the plots to be managed as irregular high forest, so that there is always a forest cover, but also preserves the soil. The regenerated stand will ultimately be more resistant to insect attack and climatic hazards. The trees will be able to support biodiversity and help combat global warming by storing carbon.Principales essences :

Sur le terrain
Contexte local
The forest is located in the commune of Chennegy in the Aube department, more specifically in the Pays d'Othe, a very rural area with numerous forests and orchards. The commune is less than two hours from Paris and 25 km from Troyes.
Actions sur le terrain
The silvicultural measures for natural regeneration will take place over several years:
- 2024: Mechanised thinning;
- 2025-2026: Pruning of the best trees;
- 2028: Mechanised thinning.
Impact
CLIMAT
Contributes to the mitigation of the greenhouse effect and influences precipitation patterns and the local microclimate.
BIODIVERSITÉ
Preservation of local biodiversity by providing suitable habitats and resources.
EAU ET SOLS
Influences the quality and integrity of the soil-water system, and the cycling of water and nutrients.
SOCIAL & ÉCONOMIQUE
Supports human well-being, by providing resources, income, education, and supporting recreation and heritage.
