This hedgerow planting project, located in the Aube department, is on an organic farm that has been in existence for 50 years. The area is rich in wet meadows and a few arable fields. The hedgerows will be planted on the edges of fields that have been farmed organically for many years, and of meadows, in order to reconstitute a green network within the area. The hedgerows will also encourage the establishment of crop auxiliaries, limit soil erosion and create shaded areas for herds. Last but not least, they can help combat global warming by storing carbon.

Contexte local

The farm hosting this project raises dairy cows fed on grass and barn-dried hay from the permanent and temporary meadows around the farm. It also sells meat directly from the farm. The animals are fed on organic cereals produced on the farm: triticale, oats, peas and field beans. The aim is to produce healthy, affordable food for everyone, and to produce in a sustainable way that respects both the animals and the environment.
