Charny Orée de Puisaye - France
Forest restoration and creation
This project is located in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region in the commune of Charny Orée de Puisaye, an amalgamation of 14 communes located between Auxerre and Montargis in the Yonne department.

With 30% of its territory covered by forest, the Yonne department ranks 6th in the region for its surface area and 7th for its afforestation rate. Yonne is the Burgundy-Franche-Comté département with the highest proportion of private forest (78%), resulting in a forest that is more fragmented than public forest, with small areas. This project, located in the Ouanne valley and the town of Chargny, is nevertheless taking place in a very agricultural context where there is little forest. Among other things, this project is therefore of great interest to the landscape in this area.
As this project is located on agricultural fallow land, it is necessary to carry out light tillage on the planting lines and then, for better recovery, tilled posts will be made before planting. Once the vegetation has developed, manual maintenance will be carried out on the lines after 2 years and after 4 years at the very least, depending on the dynamics of the vegetation. Finally, to allow access for manual work, mechanical maintenance of the operating partitions will be carried out if necessary.
