Forest restoration and creation
The aim of this project is to re-establish forest vegetation in an area of the Aveyron region where conditions are particularly harsh.

This project is located in the Aveyron department, close to the Monts de Lacaune Regional Nature Park. Aveyron is a department with very little woodland, mainly because of the harsh conditions it faces. Aveyron's forests are mainly made up of deciduous trees, oaks and beeches. The 20% of coniferous trees are mostly Douglas fir, pine and fir. Aveyron's forests are highly fragmented, and 90% of them are held by private owners, often with plots of less than 4 hectares.
In order to preserve the potential of the plot and optimise the success of the plantation, the soil was only scarified. Clearing was carried out along the plantation lines, but spontaneous regeneration will be preserved if it does not hinder the proper development of the planted trees. The stand will be managed as an irregular high forest.
