The project takes place in the Sarthe region, in the communes of Dureil and Solesmes, and involves planting 5,290 trees of 9 different species on a 4.2 hectare site. Initially, the plots consisted of decaying monoculture poplar and pine woods. A failing part had been planted with locust trees. Today, the owners wish to enhance the value of these woodland areas. The species planted will create a diverse and resilient forest ecosystem. The gradual irregularisation of the stand will enable the forest to resemble a natural forest as closely as possible, making it all the more welcoming for biodiversity.

Some of the species (oak, cedar and linden) will be planted in groups of the same species, while others will be scattered throughout the plot.

Some of the existing vegetation will be maintained to discourage game from damaging the newly planted trees.
