Laprugne (03) - France
Forest restoration and creation
Located in the commune of Lapgrune in the department of Allier, the aim of this plantation project is to afforest a former abandoned farmland and an area of forest wasteland, which were cut down by the previous owner.

The department of Allier is characterised by an exceptional diversity of natural habitats, a source of biodiversity. It is home to many species of interest that are protected at national and European level, including many species of bat and insects such as the lucanid flycatcher and the alpine rosalie. There are also many emblematic plant species such as dicrana and buxbaumia (mosses), drosera and rosolis (carnivorous bog plants) and marsileia (aquatic fern). This area, rich in biodiversity, is remarkable for the quantity and quality of its forests, including the famous Tronçais forest to the north-west, as well as the Moladier, Bagnolet and Civrais forests.
To ensure the success of the project, individual protection will be installed on each plant, in addition to the application of a deer repellent (TRICO).
Annual clearing is planned to prevent weeds from competing with the plants and their access to light.
Replanting will be considered if losses are observed.
