Souesmes - France
Forest restoration and creation
The Souesmes project is located in the Loir-et-Cher region and involves planting 1,560 trees on a derelict agricultural site.

The Centre-Val de Loire region boasts a great diversity of landscapes, with large forested areas and cultivated plains. In the space of a century, its wooded area has increased by 40%, with an average of 2,000 hectares added per year since the beginning of the 20th century, largely as a result of the decline in agricultural activity.
The vast majority of forests in the Centre-Val de Loire are deciduous. Sessile and pedunculate oaks alone account for almost 60% of the stands. The main softwoods are Scots pine, laricio pine and maritime pine.
This project is located in the heart of the Natura 2000 zone, and is therefore helping to preserve biodiversity and remarkable habitats.
