Résumé du projet
The project takes place in the commune of Paimpont, in Ille-et-Vilaine, and involves the reforestation of a birch coppice. The owner has carried out a strip of clear-cutting in the heart of the coppice. In all, 3 strips will be planted with a mixture of 3 hardwood/softwood species. Between these strips, the birch trees will remain in coppice. The landowner will work these areas by selecting promising stems, balivage and thinning. This project will make it possible to diversify a forest that tends to be monospecific by introducing 3 new species. It will form a carbon sink and produce quality wood in the heart of an irregularly managed forest.

The plantations will be planted alternately along the line. Existing strips of broadleaved trees adjacent to future plantations will be thinned by balivage, retaining future stems.
