Chartrettes - France
Assisted natural regeneration
The project takes place in the commune of Chartrettes, in Seine-et-Marne, on plots of good land.

The massif in which the project is located is heterogeneous. This makes it possible to produce a variety of wood species (broadleaved: oak, chestnut, alder, birch, aspen, lime, ash, sycamore, plane, hornbeam, etc., and softwood: Scots pine, Laricio, etc.).
The presence of roe deer is significant, but the Groupement Forestier has a hunting plan sufficient to contain the population. For this project, Tubex protection will be installed on the plants to reduce the risk of rubbing and browsing. The upper parts of the plots, on the edge of the plain, are more exposed to drought than the lower parts near the river.
The assisted natural regeneration work will take place over several years:
2024 :
- Marking of partitions;
- Opening of the partitions ;
- Opening of plantation gaps plus geolocation;
- Soil preparation using a mini excavator;
- Purchase of stakes and protection.
2025 :
- Planting and installation of protection;
- Clearing of natural regeneration gaps.
2026 à 2029 :
- Annual clearing of natural regeneration gaps and plantation gaps.
- Management of direct and diffuse light.
2030 à 2034 :
- Annual clearing of natural regeneration gaps and plantation gaps;
- Direct/diffuse light management.
