Mogues - France
Forest restoration and creation
This project is taking place in the French Ardennes, which have been badly affected by attacks by bark beetles (insect pests), and this forest at Mogues is no exception.

The commune of Mogues is located on the French-Belgian border in a densely forested region that was heavily planted with spruce trees in the post-war period, most of which are now in a very poor state of repair. The area was also set back by the outbreak of African swine fever in Belgium, which completely blocked the operation and maintenance of many of the mountain ranges along the border.
Covering just over 2 hectares, the owner wanted to diversify the planting, taking into account the climate and soil, by alternating Douglas fir, spruce, laricio pine, chestnut and beech.
