Ce projet de reboisement, situé à Josat (43), vise à restaurer une forêt dégradée après une coupe sanitaire du peuplement de résineux touché par des dépérissements. Sur 1,4 hectare, 1 900 plants de Douglas, de mélèze et de hêtre seront implantés. Ces essences ont été sélectionnées pour leur résilience face aux conditions locales, marquées par un stress hydrique et des aléas climatiques. En diversifiant la forêt, le projet renforce sa résistance aux maladies et favorise la biodiversité, tout en garantissant des services écosystémiques durables.

Haute-Loire (43) has a large forest cover (40% of the territory) with mixed forests of beech and fir in the mountains, as well as oak and coniferous forests depending on local conditions. Its forestry sector is key to the local economy, with high levels of timber production. However, climate change and pressure from ungulates are affecting natural regeneration. Diversification of tree species and sustainable management are essential to strengthen the resilience of the forests.

This reforestation project, located in Josat in the Haute-Loire region, aims to restore a degraded forest following a sanitary cut of the coniferous stand affected by dieback. A total of 1.4 hectares will be planted with 1,900 Douglas fir, larch and beech trees. These species have been selected for their resilience to local conditions, which are characterised by water stress and climatic hazards. By diversifying the forest, the project strengthens its resistance to disease and promotes biodiversity, while guaranteeing sustainable ecosystem services.
